About Me: 

Cesare Stefanini received the Laurea degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in microengineering from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, in 2002. He is currently a tenured Assistant Professor at the BioRobotics Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa, Italy, where he is the leader of the “Creative Engineering Design” area. His research interests include small scale biorobotics, actuators for compliant robots and micromechatronics. He is the manager of a large scale European Project aimed at developing new high precision technologies for manufacturing complex shape parts at the micro/meso-scale level. He has authored or coauthored 27 papers on refereed international journals, more than 50 papers published in international conferences proceedings, and holds 7 international patents, three of which being currently exploited in industrial micromechatronic products.
