About Me: 

I was born in Lamezia Terme, Italy in 1983. My background is BioMedical Engineering, I received my Master Degree at the University of Pisa in 2007. I received my Ph.D. degree in Biorobotics, at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in 2011. During 2010, I was visiting student at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital – Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, under the supervision of Prof. Paolo Bonato.

I am currently a post-doc at The BioRobotics Institute and member of the Locomotion Biomechanics Laboratoy under the supervision of Dr. Vito Monaco and prof. Silvestro Micera.

During my Ph.D. programme and throughout the three years of Post Doctoral Fellow at The BioRobotics Institute, I have deepened my knowledge on bio-signal processing applied in biomechanics and neurorehabilitation studies. Additionally, my research goals were directed towards a better understanding of neuro-motor control strategies and motor recovery processes following neuro-musculo-skeletal disorders such as stroke.

My main scientific interests lies in the development of algorithms for incipient fall detection, as well as in the characterization of actions implemented during unexpected perturbations.

I am actively involved in CYBERLEGs project founded by the European Commission (CYBERLEGs “The CYBERnetic LowEr-Limb CoGnitive Ortho-prosthesis”, FP7-ICT-287894 – http://www.cyberlegs.eu).

I am interested in the study of:
• incipient fall detection, prevention and mitigation
• upper and lower limb neuromotor control mechanisms
• motor recovery process following a stroke
• innovative rehabilitative strategies for therapy in neurorehabilitation
• rehabilitation robotics
