SensorART will provide a set of technologies for heart assistance, such as: innovative telemedicine services supporting patients with chronic heart failure and healthcare professionals, allowing patients to be treated at home without renouncing to accessing high medical expertise; innovative tele-control services allowing the patient and the healthcare professional to keep under control the performance of cardiovascular implanted assist devices (VAD); demonstration of effectiveness and cost effectiveness of specialized telemedicine services and the positive impact on the healthcare system reducing hospitalization time, by considering also the device acceptability at home by a training of the patient and his empowerment.

What we do: 

The Surgical Robotics group leads Sensors & VAD Implementation and Auto-regulation Control Unit (ARU) Development. These achievements will be carried out developing two different  platforms: implantable and wearable.

The implantable platform is VAD-dependent and is strictly related to the auto Regulation Unit, which will be responsible for the data acquisition and management, the VAD setting and monitoring and the data transmission to patient and specialist interfaces.

The wearable platform will be VAD-independent, with the purpose to acquire as many physiological parameters as possible to collect information about patient status and to support the specialist. Additional data will be acquired by biosensors, which has the potential to be a valuable tool for collecting data about inflammatory biomarkers.
